Chirmiri is a popular hill stations famous for coal mines. Chirimiri coalfield are 2 million ton-per-annum network of mines. Chirimiri Coalfield is a part of Central India Coalfields located in Koriya district, state Chhattisgarh. The Chirimiri colliery was opened in 1930 (in production 1932). Chirimiri Coalfield is a part of Central India Coalfields, located in Koriya district, Chhattisgarh. It is spread over 1286.18 ha. Seven main Coal mines are comes under this Area. Coal mines in Chirmiri area have both under ground and open cast mines. Grade of Coal is A and B. The total mineable coal reserve of the Quarry is 24.25 Million Tonnes.
It is a hill station and a Nagar Nigam in the Koriya district.
